Grandpa's 55' F350 restore
#421
Not a whole lot to report as this delayed Spring has slowed me down and made all of my Spring projects come due at the same time. I love country living but there is always something to do, plus working full time. Anyway I am going to shock some of my Stocker friends but I went a little crazy on my seat. Ordered it from Raybuck and had it upholstered locally. I swear it will be the only obvious bling on the truck. If you like it or don't, tell me, I'm a big boy and can take it. Also, my paint guy is making some progress and started laying it down. He has started with the black parts. I have not seen them in person but he sent me a couple of pictures. Hopefully a couple of weeks out from getting it back

Today was a big day! I got my cab and metal back from the paint shop (well at least some of them). Fenders and Hood still on back order. He could not find the exact factory formula Banner Blue, so they used the interior of the glove box to color match. Believe it or not, it might match some 2012 Volkswagen out there. That will be the last time I admit to that Getting the Cab and doors done will now allow me to move forward with a lot of little projects. Now I fear that first scratch

Thanks guys! It sure seems like I waste a lot of time Stu 2 1/2 years to be exact, but I knew it would take awhile. I see some projects take people multiple years and others weeks. I guess being in the middle ain't so bad

Congratulations on reaching this significant milestone of your restoration. As others have said, the color looks great. You'll be driving again soon! I've been working on my truck for about 4 years, and didn't take mine all apart as you have done. I'm retired too, and you are still working.

Wow!
All correct down to the yellow paint and the high fan waterpump. Most would simply put a 1956 up timing cover on it and run the more easily found water pump and non-inverted 56-up fuel pump. Thank goodness your truck didn't join the ones lost to a Chevy drivetrain. Love the dark blue!!!!!!

Took the time to clean up my speedometer cluster panel today. Not hard work, just tedious. No big surprises and actually in very good shape. While I was at it I painted the needles and reset the odometer back to "0". You might ask why? Well the speedo cable has been broken for as long as I remember, so the reading was not accurate anyway. If anyone is interested on how I did this check out this YouTube Video.
I still need to paint the trim and glue the glass in. Does anyone have advise on the best product for setting the glass? Thanks in advance.

Looks great, Dave. How did you clean up the black? It looks great.
Hounding house the glass in place. There was a rubber gasket there that probably deteriorated. I think MidFifty sells the gasket. Or you might find the right thickness of rubber at your hardware store, like the rubber used to spline the screen into a storm door screen.
