I was working on my 1986 ford e 150 regency conversion the other day and had to disconnect the battery. Then I hooked it back up and none of my mood lights or interior lights are working. I think I popped a fuse but I'm not sure where the fuse is. I don't think it's wired into the standard fuse box. I've don't some reading and a lot of people say the conversion vans can have fuse boxes in odd, hard to find places. Does anyone know where this fuse is located?
My best suggestion is to search the Internet for any Regency owner's manuals that may be posted. I have had 5 conversion vans over the years and different converters put the etronics in different places. (I've had 2 Turtle Top conversions, a Starcraft, and Imperial, and my current d'Elegant.)
One common location (and where my d'Elegant GT van has the etronics) is on the left side wall immediately behind the driver's seat. Look for a panel that looks like it might come out if you remove a couple screws and there may be a terminal/fuse box there.
The other possibility is that some van converters use a tap wire on the positive battery terminal to feed their specific Etronics...is it possible you disturbed a tap wire when you disconnected and reconnected the battery? On an '86 van you may be dealing with corrosion issues on the connectors.
I just did a quick search on "Regency Conversion Van Owner's Manual" and here is one of the sites I found with what looks like some downloadable manuals:
Thanks for the suggestions. I don't think there is any panel behind the drivers seat. But I'll look into the battery lead. I don't think corrosion is an issue either. I have a second van same year and same conversion company and it just has a second fuse panel underneath the factory one. For some reason this one doesn't have it there
I found a couple more hits on the Internet that talked about behind the driver's seat. I went out and checked my own van (which shows how little I sit in the back seat) and there is a 4x12" upholstered panel (matching the side panel--gray velour) which is velcroed in place right near where the knees of the 2nd row passenger would be. I literally did not remember this so thanks for giving me the reason to take note of where it was
I think I remember my Starcraft and/or Imperial having panel with quick-release fasteners or snaps or something in that same vicinity. Gonna be on the left side because there's no opening door on that side.
