I have recently went through my first rebuild a 5.8W. Everything went fine up to the point of timing and startup I have set timing but have no fire to plugs and fuel pump not kicking in the inertia switch is set, what is happening?

So what are the details, was this a conversion or did the truck have a 5.8 to begin with? Any wiring changed?
Is the distributor new?

Thanks for the reply it was a total stock rebuild including dizzy.Just checked out wiring and it seems that I have lost a wire to the dizzy (its not grounding on bottom end) May get a new harness or just overlay for the time being ill let you know how it goes. I love my 88 and want to do it right

A pulse from the dizzy is key to everything, if you don't get that you won't get any spark or fuel. There are lots of DOA problems with aftermarket distributors and ignition parts, if you have the old dizzy swap it in as a test.
