I finally got my new tires mounted today. They have been sitting in my garage for a few months now while I tried to get some extra life outta my dry rotted ones. I went with the 285/75 r16 tires. They look so much better than the old ones!
Treadwright warden. They are a 10 ply E rated tire. They are remolds, but they have a good warranty and they have great reviews so I figured why not! Especially at $615 shipped to my door!
It is very light surface rust. There is nothing penatrating anywhere, but eventually I plan to do a full "restoration". I want to take the body off, redo the frame, pull the dents from the previous owner, do the 2008 front end swap, and have it re painted. Big plans!
If there is anyone thinking about getting some treadwright tires, I'd say go for it! My buddy let me use his shop to mount the toes, but he didn't have a balance that would work for them, so I put them on unbalanced. They are still smooth as can be! I was planning on balancing them later, but u may not now that I know how smooth they are.
That rust is nothing! The salt on the roads here will kill anything. But now the body is starting so needs fixed. Going to Chassis saver the frame and bring the body in.
I run the same Treadwright Wardens on my offroad/camping setup. Great tires at a great price from an all-American company. I love'em, and so do all my buddies that run them on their hunting/camping rigs. Heck, some of them are even putting them on their daily drivers now.
