good price?
I ran a simple pricing exercise on edmunds.com. using your numbers (2000 f-150 4x4 ext cab XLT 5.4 42,000 miles). Added in a few options but I have no way to know what sort of options the truck has or how clean the truck is etc. Buying from a dealer with a warranty etc.
Notice there is a $3,500 price diff between a private party and a dealer and another $1,000 for a certified used vehicle which I interprete as meaning a 12k/ 1 year or better warranty.
I bought a new 03 XLT 4 x 4 ext cab with the 4.6 in April for 23.5k (not including tax etc.). This is a manual though. A bit over 30k sticker. With the 3k rebates and the end of the model year, no doubt an easy 7k and perhaps better could be removed from the sticker price.
To me the 3k rebates should somehow be reflected in lower prices for used vehicles. Not sure if this happens or not.
Anyway, go out to edmunds.com and run your own scenario.
