I have just installed a 351C into my 65 F100. Everything is going well except for some small problems....
One of them been the harmonic balancer. When the engine is running and I look from the side of the engine there seems to be a slight 'wobble' on the balancer. Is this normal? Could this cause further damage to the engine?
The balancer has a rubber ring that is between the inner and outer pieces. If that rubber is failing the outer ring can slip around and change the timing marks or worse yet come loose and clean everything off the front of your engine (think explosion). Check your balancer out and replace it if it is bad, sounds like you may have found it in time...
