tranny trouble?

Well, this is a new one for me,
I pulled into my buddies driveway which happens to be a steep little one at that. I stop, my back tires are just on the edge of driveway and the road (cul-de-sac)

Anywho, I leave it in gear and put ebrake on, which barely works and I hop out. I start walkin up driveway and see my truck is jerking, it rolls about 3-4inches down and stops, then about 5 seconds later it jerks down another few inches. So i jump back in and rolld down the rest of the drive way, then it was fine.

Get what im saying??? Its like it cant hold the weight of truck on a steep incline.
Anyone know whats goin on??
This is the first time Ive noticed this........I think.
Thanks for suggestions guys.

Is this your 78' F150? It could be that the hill is too steep to be parking on using a manual trans as a substitute for the malfunctioning e-brake.

The only thing holding that truck is the compression of the 360ci. The more wore out the 360 is the less it is going to hold that truck in place on a hill of any kind. I bet if you stood on the front bumper with the truck parked on that hill you would be able to watch the engine (fan) move as the truck jerked backwards.

Fix: either fix the e-brake or use chalk blocks under the tires.
