Hello! Just sold my 15 F350 Platinum and looking at a 2014 Raptor. Long story short I had a 13 Raptor and traded it on a 15 F350. Regretted trading the Raptor.
I'm looking at a 14 Raptor with 13,500 miles. Dealer is asking 62K trying to purchase it for 54K. Also thinking of just waiting for the new 17.
Even without looking it up, my question (as a dealer) is "where are you getting your number from?"
Without adding any options other than the likely 6.2 and crew cab KBB shows a range of $54k to $61k for a CPO. The "fair selling price" is $60k. If someone came in and demanded the bottom of the market for a rare and pretty desirable truck like this I'd tell them to pound sand and not even bother getting their information, as I couldn't take them as a serious buyer, and I'd much rather wait for such a person to offer me a fair figure who will be happy and let us make some money. My guess is it has a few options and therefore is worth a good amount more than portrayed here as well. if you want this truck, expect to pay close to it's fair selling price, not bottom rung, unless there are serious condition issues, in which case, you're better off waiting for a nicer more expensive truck anyway.
Appreciate the feedback! The 14 Raptor is a 6.2 Crew loaded with Moonroof, Nav, deadlock wheels etc with 13,500 miles on the clock. I purchased my 13 Raptor from the same dealer that has the 14. Before I would pay $60K I would wait for a 17 MY. I think the 17's will be close to $65K plus. It would make more sense to purchase a new one if the 14 is $60K.
It's super hard to justify any used late model truck purchase as the market is just crazy right now. If it's loaded as described than $62 is probably pretty fair deal for someone. For my money, I would also wait for the '17 myself, but you can't expect them to lose thousands of dollars on this one. I'll bet they own it for somewhere near the upper $50s themselves. How little would you have traded it in for if you were the previous owner after all?
Good points! I sold my 13 Raptor to my local dealer last year for $52K. It was loaded and had 7,500 miles on the clock.
My thought now is to buy a 17, unless I could purchase a 14 for around $10K less than what a new one will probably be. Big unkown on the price of a 17. I'm thinking they will increase a little more than the high trim level 15 F150's did.
The 14 might have some value with a last year model 6.2?
I doubt the 6.2 will hold too much "collector value". Sorta like being proud of your 95 stang with last pushrod 5.0. At the time guys thought it was the last Mustang you could hot rod at home. It wasn't long till we learned how to play with the mod motors. I suspect the 3.5 EB is going to be the modern king of blue collar blue oval performance. Any other reasons you're not sure you should wait for the '17 just let us know!
The owner of the company I work for just purchased a new 2014 Raptor about 9 months ago for $63k out the door. He talks about possibly looking at a 2017 but he really enjoys the sound of the 6.2 that he has now with a Borla exhaust. That will not be the case with the 2017. Used Raptors around here do hold there value. Used Raptors are in the mid $40k to $50k plus.
