I'm looking for some options for upgrading my front and rear bumpers and of course nothing showed up by searches here other than the mention of one word or two so I figured I'd ask if anyone has seen anything available for the 1986 E-350. I found a website that has them for the 92+ but that's it so far.
If no one has seen a website for my year van then I figured I'd also ask if anyone knows if the frame dimensions or bumper mounts changed at all between the 80's and the 92.
I would like to find a brush guard that covers the entire front end and also has a mount for a winch in the front.
I'm surprised no one has any suggestions. I did run across Aluminess, but I don't want bumpers made of aluminum, I'd far rather have them made of steel. I might just have to make my own if I can't anything that I like.
That is what I was thinking you would have to do... Make your own..
I looked at pics from a google search and saw nothing that wasn't built.
My father was a machinist so when he built his van he made many of the parts. He liked putting the spare tire in front of the grill so he built a mount for that, that came of the bumper.. For the rear(may be illegal now), he took the stock bumper of and built extensions from the frame to extend the bumper out about 2'. He made 2 metal plates that went on top of the extension that would swing out to the side so the rear doors could be opened. On one plate he mounted a generator and on the other he had his propane bottle, 5gallon army container with water and another with gas for the generator.. He piped the propane in with a flexible hose and had a outlet on the back to plug the generator into so he could have power inside.
It worked pretty easy. You just pulled a pin and sung the plates out of the way and opened the back doors with everything still connected..
Unfortunately, I think that will be in my future. Hopefully I will start on that when I get my welder....maybe. Or after I get most of the interior built, depending money available lol.
