the water temp sensor is on the front drivers side of the lower intake manifold and the oil pressure switch is on drivers side above the oil filter. btw thats on my 93 5.0 i think that they are the same. both are single wire sensors.
I think I found the temp sensor, right next to the oil filler cap, right? What voltage/resistance should I see here? Dead cold (about 30 F), I'm seeing only about 200 ohms to ground (with wire disconnected), and about .25 volts on the wire (wire connected). With the wire disconnected, I only get about 0.35 volts. Haven't let it warm up yet. With the wire disconnected, shouldn't I see something more like 5 volts on the wire?
Dead cold the temp needle is about a third of the way through the "normal" range, and running down the road it approaches the red. Something obviously not right here. Other gauges - oil, volt, fuel level, tach, seem to function normally.
With the sensor disconnected, connect an ohmmeter between the sensor terminals. Set the ohmmeter to 200,000 ohms.
The resistance cold, at 50 F degrees should be 58.75 ohms.
The resistance at operating temperature 194 F degrees is 2.80 ohms.
Volts should be 3.51 at 50 degrees
And volts at 194 should be .60
Hope this helps.
Its kind of an old message but had to take a break from the boards for a little while.
