Ok so my 95 f350 2wd dually with a 5.8 will start normal 75% of the time cold start it's usually fine and when is warmed up is fine but after sitting say a hour it cranks for about 15 seconds before it fires, seems to be getting worse to it's random tho. No codes KOER or KOEO or stored.
First thought was fuel pressure tested it was in range did bleed down a bit so changed the fuel pump, filter and regulator but no change
In the past 2 months I have done
Cap and rotor
Plugs and wires
O2 sensor
Air filter
Cleaned IAC
checked tps voltage (.96)
Cleaned throttle body
Checked all vacuum lines
New battery
Cleaned all grounds
Checked egr valve
I'm at my wits end I just can't think of any thing else I was thinking maybe the ECT but I figured it would throw a code because it seems temp related kind but idk
Any help is much appreciated
It's possible it is your starter ,how old is it? Replace it along with the solenoid and wrap it in a heat shield. Also your negative battery cable could be corroded or burnt down threw the line. With it taking 15 seconds to crank I imagine your cables and solenoid are getting pretty hot.
I have a similar issue, mine hard starts at random infrequently. I've been told, and research on here points to the ignition module. I haven't changed mine yet so I can't confirm but I do know that mines the original one and hasn't been replaced yet. Haven't done it, doesn't really bother me. Yet..
It starts right up hot and cold 3 out of 5 times but after sitting say 30 min to a hour it cranks and cranks once it's running you can shut it right off and starts right up it seems some what random but happens more after sitting for a little
I have exactly the same problem, starts good cold or right after it has been running, if it sits for fifteen minutes or so, it tries to start then has to crank for ten seconds or so. Pulled codes 212 and 337. I am also thinking it may be the ignition module. Starter and solenoid are new. New plugs, wires, temperature sensor, and oxygen sensor. Do not believe it is the pip as the distributor is about a year old.
