Well folks, yesterday I test fitted the bed I made for my '53 f250. I love the way it looks, and it fits well. Except for the fact that the spacers I made to clear the hump in the frame aren't tall enough. (Nothing some 2"x4"s can't fix)
It appears that my 1" spacers are about an inch too short. I'm just going to fill the space with some 2x4s.
Rear shot, eventually the original bumper will go away, and I'll fab up a receiver hitch and bumper.
Side shot. Once it's mounted up, I'll weld in some under-bed lock boxes.
Looks nice! Keep the pictures coming. But it looks like you need some shorty running boards. You see them on eBay occasionally. If your current running boards are in good shape you could get good money for them from guys that have F250 and F350 express beds..

Good luck.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I think I'm going to keep the boards that I have. I see all these new trucks coming out with steps on the bedside and I've already got some with my long running boards. I plan to tie the boards into a couple storage boxes I have planned, and if they come out like I'm envisioning, it should look seamless.
Looking good.
What's your plan to fasten it to the truck?
Thanks, I plan on welding some 3/4" bolts onto the bed, then use some 1/2" or better steel strap with holes drilled to sandwich the frame. I also plan on welding some tabs onto the front of the bed to accept the original bed mounts.
