I have a 94 f350 turbo diesel 5 speed manual 4x4 with a 97 motor, it has a 4 inch turbo back exhaust but is otherwise stock (-the 47's). I'm wondering what the best chip would be? She has 47 inch tires and I plan on doing headstands, turbo, aftermarket hpop, bigger injectors, adding a intercooler, electric fuel pump conversion, 6637 etc. because I mostly need power for the mud but I also want a reliable chip so my truck won't get screwed up. Thanks in advance for any help
TS 6 position chip is the cheapest but to reprogram you have to send it to a professional. The Hyrda chip is more expensive but it holds more programs if I remember correctly and also you can have the programs send to you via email. But if I were you, dont make the diesel a mud truck. you can't get the rpms and also hydrolock is a very real problem, and can be much more severe and cause catastrophic damage to the engine.
I'm happy with my TS 6 position chip. My truck isn't too modded I just wanted to wake it up a little with some extra power. You can buy a blank or used TS chip and have it custom mapped with all kinds of different options.
You'd better start saving for a transmission and grab some gauges if you don't have any.
My dp-tuner f-6 has been awesome. No issues what so ever, been running it for about 4 yrs. just put some rosewood stage 1's in and changing the tunes was super easy. Went from split shot to single shot injectors and didn't skip a beat. Plus their customer service is top notch in my book.
The ease of not having to remove your chip to load new ones on it and being able to have multiple tuners on it. I agree though Mike. I only use 2 of my 6 settings
Not everyone need 17 tunes. Hell I don't need the 6
IMO the ability to have multiple peoples tunes available is great. You know how different tuners have their strong suits. For example a few tw tunes for power but a little smokey for some fun. You also have to drive through areas where smoke is more watched...get maybe 2 gearhead tunes... And maybe a php tune for other reasons . The possibilities are endless. Say you have a certain drivability issue... Try a different tuner and problem goes away..much like Andrew Krause had an issue like that...
Recently I changed injectors as most know..it literally was about 5 mins to delete the old tunes and reload the new. No shipping...no waiting..no pulling the parking brake,PCM, just plug n play.
I like the ol ts but when there is this technology ... The ol ts is really outdated and inconvenient.
