I just acquired a 1989 F-150 low mileage (82K) that has had both fuel pumps replaced in the last two years. The gauge on tank 1 reads full+++ and tank 2 reads full+(have seen @1/4 when purchased). The oil switch works sometimes then drops part way back at that point Alt. gauge drops some and the temp gauge reads low.I have thought a ground issue or did Ford still use the IVR in 1989?I have been scouring the net for a schematic of the dash to see how these guys all tie in.Thank's Kevin
Disregard correlation of alt/oil sw just been driving trying to get second tank to perform better(DFRV) and it's getting better it seems?and gauge(2) is starting to respond .I just about filled it up last Thursday 11/30 and been running Marvel and some Lucas. The front tank still reads way pass full and I only dropped about 5 gals in that tank.
I had totally forgot that I had free access to AllData through work used pretty much for the commercial customers if needed but most them already have AllData. So I found a ground #G1006 taillamp circuit to fuel sending units located at tran cross member and the transmission had been dropped in 2014.The truck has only had 2K put on her since 2011 according to inspection sticker and what odometer reads now.The pump in tank two is still suspect in my mind to as if pump is working?I am dropping off some schematics of various related systems should anyone need in the future.Right now I am interested in getting the fuel gauge to work once that is complete the DFR comes off and disassembly or an electric valve installed if not rebuildable.
