Hey guys. I just ordered new brake hoses from Rock Auto and was surprised when they got here and I read 'made in China.' I didn't expect that with Dorman. Does anyone have experience with these? I'm afraid to use them.
I have several vehicles with made in China flex hoses... so far so good. Hard to find much else unless you get a set of custom hoses made up which would be overkill on a PU or daily driver I think.
I don't think I ever saw something come from Dorman that wasn't Chinese. I bought a MC from Rock Auto that was Dorman and so far so good. In fact I some how clicked 2 and missed it on the order confirmation so I have a spare lol.
Hey guys, I had no idea they would be Chinese. On Rock Auto it is still possible to get Raybestos and a couple other American manufacturers, but who knows where they are made?
I prefer not to get a surprise with brake lines if I can help it. It has been my experience that the quality of M.I.C. just can't be relied on.
Tell me - are you posting that from your 100% made-in-America computer? Or your 100% made-in-America smart phone? Face it, globalization has left us with almost nothing "purely" made at any one spot and most complex assemblies contain parts from all over, especially anything containing electronics. What you have to look for now is quality controls, not country of manufacture. A company which demands very tight quality controls from its vendors will have a good quality product... one who says "just give to to us cheaper" will not.
Even the Raybestos stuff is made in China. I bought several types of parking brake cables and they all said made in China. I will say though they seem like nice stuff. Time will tell if they are as good as they look.
