I'm not sure how quiet it will be considering we don't know how much muffle is in those mufflers..

Second pipe is done and prepped. It welded up just as nice as the first one so I am pretty stoked. Once those are in and the hangers sorted out, it will be time to install the O2 sensor and tune the engine a bit more. If I can get the AC flushed out and the new hoses in, it will be a runner once more.

Afternoon All!

I got all the mud work done on the '79 cab. My daughter stopped by with her boyfriend. He broke an exhaust hanger last night pulling a guy out of the mud. I used the last little bit of wire up fixing his exhaust. Then I went back to working on the '79. I pulled the windshield and was horrified to find the entire top of the windshield frame is gone. ....so I just closed up shop and came home for the day.

I'll get back after it tomorrow.

I drove Bandit for awhile today to get fuel and to film the transmission shifting, didn't do a very good job on the filming, that steering is almost too easy lol.

Sweet loot there Rich.

After some issues with the throttle cable (still not sure its 100%) I've cleared most of the laundry list on the truck. All that's left is to double check the firing order, crank it up and set the base timing, and work the air out of the power steering while it warms up. I'm just a little stoked...

Ok guys need some help...

I've got the truck up and running, but it still doesn't run right. Firing order is right, timing is right, it just isn't smooth. I'm somewhat (OK - very) concerned that, despite my best efforts to check parts numbers, I grabbed the wrong flywheel and have too much counterweight. I've got video I'll upload later for you. Other than than it shaking, it sounds good.

Finally got it to upload...

You can't see it vibrate, but can feel it when you touch the truck...

Thanks again for the chat Alan. While you might have not had an easy answer, it helped me figure it out. Chalk up another one for the engine swap division of the school of hard knocks - I'm going to have to change the flywheel out for the right one.

I believe or at least seem to remember that motor came with a standard trans flywheel and clutch/pressure plate set up. Did I not get that to you RC?

Dave I can look tomorrow and see if it is still here and if so I can figure out a way to get it to you or you can road trip my way?

Good morning! I'm awake and really don't know why so I thought I'd check in.

Rich - I didn't get a flywheel with the engine so I had to hunt one up myself. If you happen to still have it I would gladly head your way to pick it up.

RC - Don't get too down about it. I'm still in awe at how you managed to know where things were when we came to get the engine. Sometimes it takes me most of the weekend just to figure out where I put something I was using just moments before. If I had a collection even half the size of yours I wouldn't be able to find a fool thing.

I would also like to add that my wife is recovering nicely from her surgery. So far, she hasn't had any real post operative issues other than some pain. She's going to be off of work for a few more days to recover, but is sending me back to work so she can rest. Everyone's thoughts and well wishes were deeply appreciated.
