I have a 1994 e150.
Recently the ABS light came on and is staying on.
I took it to a garage to be checked.....they said the codes are "screwy"...took it to another garage and got the same responce. I am trying to avoid a dealership.
Does anybody have any suggestions or are aware of any common problems with these ABS systems ?
My 94 F150 had the same problem. I changed the Speed Sensor on the rearend and it solved the problem. It was about $15 at the dealer. It's mounted right on top of the housing. It's held in with 1 bolt.
When I bought my '94 E-150 from a Chevy dealer, the ABS light was on. I was fixin' to take a trip, so to save time, I took the van to the Ford dealer. They scanned the codes and they said it was a hydraulic cylinder and another component that needed replacing. The bill to the Chevy dealer was $849!
The more I read this board, it seems either the speed sensor is bad, or a loose wire causes the ABS lite to come on. I've not seen anyone replace any expensive parts.
I wonder, did the Ford dealer rip off the Chevy dealer?
