Ok guys my 96 cc was an automatic when I bought it... than came the lift and 37.... now thays all gone.... iam running my d60 and about 2in over a stock one ton srw... I have a set of 285 16 on it now.... and it has the zf5 speed from a 93 f250 idi.... also truck has 410s.... I noticed tonight that at 70mph iam runing like 2300 rpms.... id like to get them down to 2000 ... iam going to run a 33 12.5 17. ... but should I change to a 373 or a 355.... I do pull with my truck some not a lot... its more of a family truck now and drive it with me gf and the 4 kids.... thanks any help or input...
With supporting mods 3.55 are great for all around. 3.73 with the 33" will net you at 2200 rpm at true 75mph at 70 you will be in 2100 rpm. So 3.73 if stock if modded aka injectors and custom tune 3.55. Good luck
I have 285s and 3.55s
At 70mph I'm right at like 1900.
Its perfect to me and I have a 28' travel trailer and have pulled over10k before.
I'm auto tho. But if towing over 10k I would want more gear.
Yeah I shouldnt ever be over 10 k.... you think 355 ovet 373 ? Where is a good place to get gears and all...? Had a buddy price me gears front and back installed for 1200.00 bucks.... o should see an impove ment in mpg as well right ? Thanks

Yeah iam any thing but stock...lol and waiting on my s 369 to get here and take off my d66... looking for a little more mpgs iam hopeing as well
I like my 3.55s. It cruises well and I have never had trouble pulling anything. I think I have pulled about 11k before and it only required minimal effort

Is your truck manual or auto ? I was going to and find a set of 355 front and rear and put under and keep the 410s incase I ever wanted to go back
..but my buddy can do the swap for like 1200.... that wont even.by a d60 around.me..... to buy diffs id be looking at like 2400 bucks
I think if I had the option right now I would go with 3.73's. Not that I pull much but the hills we have here I think they would be a great set. 8k lbs on 9% grades. With the 3.55's I find I drop to 4th gear earlier than I want to.

Iirc its only about 100rpm at 70 mph.
I honestly think this is a 3.55 or 4.10 deal. I think 3.73 is a waste of cash if going from 3.55 s.
Don't bother wasting your time changing gears. You are looking at about $800per axle and you will notice No Difference other than cruising RPM. Zero fuel milage difference

Brad, I think his main objective IS Crusing RPM not fuel milage..
