Swapping used ecm
Swapping used ecm
I'm working in a 2012 f150 xlt 5.0l, can we swap in a used ecm of the same part number without programming the truck?
This truck has codes for open heater circuits in both down stream o2 sensors. Tested and I don't believe it's being grounded through the ecm. I am hoping a new ecm solves the issue but would like to test without having to take it to the dealership.

What diagnosing would you recommend? The rear o2 sensors are brand new, they test out good. KOEO, 12v are making it to the sensor. With sensor unplugged, no ground on ground wire. I unplug from the Ecm and test the ground wire and it's good. Seems the only place it could be is the ECM?
I have a used ecm, if I plug it up and attempt to start it and it doesn't work, can I put the original ecm back in without issues? I worried about it locking it's self down because it thinks it's stolen.
Anyone have any experience?
