BF Goodrich tires
Ken, I was in Wal-Mart yesterday, and saw the Land Terrains. The tread pattern seems to be a compromise between the Long Trails and the All-Terrains. It looks like it would give better snow traction than the Long Trails, and give better wear than the A/T's. I may try a set, when I need tires again.

BF Goodrich tires
If they are like the Long Trails they won't have the sidewall protection of the true A/T or M/T designs; great if you never really take it off-road as they will ride better on the highway - if you do play on a trail every now and then be carefull what you scrub the sidewalls against as they cut a lot easier.

I'm not familiar with that paticular BFG tire, but what I will say is, that in looking at the circle showing the tread design, you will see little rectangular blocks of rubber, in the main outter edge tread channel.
Those channels are suppose to be for channeling water out of the sides of the tire tread.
With those outter edge channels blocked on both sides of the tread pattern, (as the design shows), I would suspect that this tire would be subject to holding the water under the tire, and may cause it to be prone to hydroplaneing.
I have been through many tire brands and types, since I bought my Bronco II in 1988.
It came from a Ford Dealership in Honolulu,(My Real Home), with those "MayPop" 235 Firestones, and believe me, they were real "Death Wish" tires.
Subject to high speed, (60mph+), sidewall blowouts, that decapitated the entire tread, tearing up the fenders, brake lines, and wrapping around the rear axles so tight, that you could hardly get the tread out from under the vehicle.
From Firestones, I went to a BFG's A/T, and was pretty unhappy with their highway performance, and inability to maintain balance. They also had an extreme, (scare the hell out of you), tendency to hydroplane.
While at a Sam's Club several years back, I spotted some BFG Long Trail T/A's. To me, they really looked good, and the lables spoke well for the tire.
I bought 5, and had Sam's Mech's high speed balance, and install them.
I am so happy with the Long Trail T/A's, that I'll never buy another type of tire.
I bought them at least 3 years ago, and today, they still look almost new.
They have excellent tread wear, a great water displacement tread pattern, they grip the road well, and are super quite on the street and highway.
I've never had to have them rebalanced, they have no uneven wear patterns on them. They are simple an excellent tire.
To bad there isn't some sort of, 50 or so mile, test drive offered, as I know you would be happy with a set of the BFG Long Trail T/A's.
