I just installed the new (20k boneyard motor) in my truck, the guy I had do it was a hack, so I ended up replacing just about every sensor, plugs, wires, rotor, cap tps, air intake temp sensor, coolant sensor, and distributor. I still have a slight miss I have the wires separated to avoid cross fire. Last night I threw a bottle of injector cleaner in the tank and ran seafoam through one of the ports and noticed smoke coming from behind the motor by the EGR, where would that leak out of the exhaust? could that be the miss? It runs good, but I think it could be a bit better...uggghhhh
Did you replace the wires? Could have a bad one. If it's smoking behind the egr ,Check the tube . It could be the oil sending unit behind the intake leaking on to the exhaust ,
I just replaced my 7.5 a week ago 200,000 miles on motor . Head gasket took a crap so I thought it would be easier to replace engine over doing a headgasket , these 460 are heavy monsters .put banks headers on it . Runs strong . New motor had 63000 on it

does all the pollution stuff still work with the headers?
I was thinking leaky egr tube, but would that cause the miss?
You can purchase the banks with all the correct bungs for smog pump and pollution control .I chose to delete everything but the egr .so far no check engine light , I did however keep the selenoids plugged in
Do you notice the miss just idling or under a load too? .Are you sure it's not just an exhaust leal sounding like it's missing?
It is just at idle I was thinking there might be an exhaust leak but everyone keeps saying they don't hear one. I only have hearing in one ear so I can't hear sh#t...lol
