Unhappy Elecrical Problems???

I have a 73 Jeep truck with a 360 engine. I have installed a new carb, new coil, new points, new condensor, new dist. cap and put a new electronic fuel pump and new battery on it to try and fix my problem. My problem is it will not start. When I finally get it started it will run for a day and then just act like someone just turned the switch off and will not fire back up. One day I can switch out dist. caps and it will fire right up. the the next day it will just turn over and over again and will not run. I'm thinking I need a new distributor. Any suggestions?

Elecrical Problems???

I'm reaching way back into the dusty archives here, but I had a '64 Plymouth that had a resistor in the primary wiring to the distributor. I think its function was to limit current flow through the points and prevent premature burning. As I recall, physically it was a white ceramic looking piece mounted on the firewall. It would seem that even without it, your points would last longer than that though. Do they look burnt?

Is there a resistor somewhere in the line? It might have burned out something else

It might be the resistor but it is usually bypassed during cranking to give the coil 12 volts for a hotter spark.
Do you have voltage to the coil? (check with a test light) How do the plug wires look? Especially the wire from the coil to the distributor. (check with an ohmmeter, should be about 10k ohms per foot)
