Well if you love a diesel then that's the better way to go, especially if you're thinking they're better than the gasser versions. My only concern or "fear" with diesel engines is I'm not well steeped in their maintenance and upkeep and have no real desire to do so. Oddly my business is working around and on Freighliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt etc etc all day every day and still have no love or interest.
You're very right about the Ford 6.0's---from what I've read about them on another site the upkeep is staggering.
If time permits read a bit in the Modular Motors forums for a bit of insight what gasser guys and girls deal with. For the most part many of us non-diesel people find the gas engines easier to DIY.
Still will be looking forward to your build and refresh on this E350---great starting point, IMHO anyway.
Is it possible to install a 6.9 idi? they are cheap. Reliable. And easy to find. If so what about the trans? id like the idi as it dosent need a computer
I had a 93 with a 7.3L IDI. It wasn't a powerhouse, but it wasn't a total slug either. It got 13 mpg no matter how I drove. Couple that with the higher cost of fuel and maintenance and there really isn't an advantage.

but there is. Work reinberses me for all fuel used in it as i only use it for work.
But id still do diesel for the reliabilty.
i think it may be possible to do a 6.9/7.3 with a aod from a 93. Or get a trans from a diesel 99
So i found that this van does have an issue....
After it warms up it boggs under throttle. But only at mid rpms it seems. And only for about 5-10 secs. Just serviced at dealer. Any ideas?
it is running the recommended synthectic blend also.
The diesel-specific forum here on FTE should be able to directly address your issues----a few here have diesel engines but gassers are in the majority.
