I am looking for a truck bed cap for my 1977 ford F150 6.5ft bed.

No worries I just thought that I might point out that FTE has a WTB section and that is probably a better place to get a lead on locating a cap for your truck.

I bet locating a OEM cap for a short bed is like finding a bucket of gold hens teeth. But you never know?

Factory Ford caps were only available for long (8ft) beds. You will have to look for an aftermarket cap for shortbed.
