And that truck ended up at the junk yard why???? It's hilarious a truck like that set out with a price tag doubling what they got from the scrappers and it would sell in no time. And less hassle then hauling it in for scrap to.
The red and white '68 Ranger belonged to my uncle before my dad bought the truck from my uncle somewhere around 1972 (I was 6 years old then). My uncle had changed all the interior and exterior trim on the '68 Ranger to that of a '70 Ranger. My dad sold the truck when I was 22 (1988). That was the first vehicle I learned to drive.
Not great IPhone pictures but, this is another '68 Ranger that belongs to my uncle. He's had it for a good number of years and he still owns it today. It's also a '68 Ranger that he converted over to all '71 Ranger XLT trim. He's also the one who painted the truck two tone blue.
I recently had my 67 F-250 Ranger Camper Special entered in a local car show. I had a part owner of the local Ford dealership come up to me and tell me he'd give me 20 grand cash for it on the spot.
I looked at him and said, "How much do they want for that new F-250 Super Duty over there?" He proudly proclaimed, "Oh, about 54 grand".
I looked him right in the eye and said, "I'd be hard pressed to TRADE you straight across for this truck. Besides, it is not for sale"
He just smiled and walked away.
Here are a couple pix of this beast for you. Enlarge them. I'm damn proud of that truck.
