I knew the parking brake did not work when I bought my 89' F-150, so I remove the brake drum to inspect and find out I'm missing the lever that the cable anchors to is missing. I then went to make sure on the other side and it's missing too. Does anyone know where I can get these parts in NE Ohio? Are they year specific?
P.S.
While I was in there I expanded the brake shoes to where the drum just began to feel friction and now my brake pedal is allot firmer. Is what you see enough meat on there or is it time for a change?
Thanks guys!
I believe the lever should be in front of the right pad here?
The lever goes behind the rearmost shoe. you stick the peg through the correct hole in the shoe and secure it with a horseshoe clip. there isn't a whole lot of wear on the linings(pads). You should be able to find the levers at a salvage yard, they will fit from several years I think.
plenty of meat on those shoes ... nowhere near needing replacement.
as for the missing e-brake levers ... those brake cables tend to seize up inside their housings over time. could be the previous owner couldn't make them reach the levers to install them without having the brakes constantly applied, so he just deleted the levers. at any rate, make sure that they are moving freely.

Pulled them both from the junkyard for $3. I lost a horseshoe clip so I got some cotter pins to hold them on. I'll be installing this weekend and will replace both rear cables while I'm at it as I agree that there likely would have been a previous issue given that they were completely disconnected.
