I recently purchased an '01 Lincoln Navigator with the autolamp feature. Can anyone tell me how it is supposed to work. At present if it is dark outside and I start the vehicle the lights come on after about a 30-45 second delay. While driving during dusk, the lights do not seem to want to come on.
I have the Ford accessory (dealer install type) autolamps on my F150. They do tend to come on a bit later than I would have turned them on, but not seriously. Mine also has the DRL feature, so its only the tail/parking lights that aren't on.
I don't believe the light sensitivity is adjustable. You can always cover the sensor (maybe partially) or turn 'em on manually.
i have a 98 Navigator witht he Autolamp feature and it works as expected for me. If its dark outside and i turn on the engine the lights turn on right away. Also i have noticed when its around dusk the lights are on, (and thats when its pretty light out still)
If it's pitch black, the lights should come on immediately with the key. If it's dusk, the threshhold is adjustable, but you have to get to the sensor in the dash to tweak it. The dial/slide on the dash sets the time they stay on after the key is turned off.
