So I'm working on swapping an F-Series instrument cluster with tach into an E-Series-- what color background was/is stock for that year1997>2001 F150's or Explorers?
I have one cluster qued up for the swap fitting a '97 F150 seems to be blue with white-ish pointers. Was that standard or an option?
FWIW my preference will be green back lighting with orange pointers. The pointers can be swapped out but not the background color. This is the finished look I'm after:
Yes, in the 1997 and 1998 F150's, they had teal lighting with orange needles. I believe the faces themselves are blue, they just had covers over the bulbs. While 1999-2003 did have the green face, orange needles... they are digital. They won't work with an analog face.
I am finding this whole attempted project to be a bit more uphill than expected---which is to be expected I guess? I'll work through it eventually--------or so I hope.
