OBD2 port power problem

I was wondering if there is a fuse or something that can stop the OBD2 port from getting power. If there is where is it on a 2000 limted 4x4 7.3L. Please help. Thanks in advance.

The fuse for the cigarette lighter also runs the OBD port, at least on the V10 version.

Thanks I will check that and see if it fixes the problem. I guess I should check all my fuses anyway......just to be on the safe side.

Go to the Excursion Tech Folder sticky thread. The very first links are for the Owners manuals.

Not the smartest configuration since that is the #1 most likely fuse to get blown.

Yep, it's the cig lighter fuse. Dumb but.. easy fix.
Experienced the exact same thing when testdriving an ex a couple years ago and wanting to hook up my scanner to the OBD2 port.

You are absolutely correct. I went and got a large 40 fuse pack that fits very well in my centet console. I will be switching the fuse out as soon as I finish a few things around the house. I will update as soon as it is fixed.

Having worked and lived out in the boonies and oil fields, you gotta be able to self-recover, especially with simple things like fuses.

I've noticed with my project Ex (knee deep in wiring) that there are quite a few circuits that share fuses that really have no logical reason to be doing so. The thought has crossed my mind more than once to just rewire the whole thing my way. The only thing that stops me from doing so is that I'd have to rewire the dash as well- and there really isn't nothing wrong with my dash harness.
