My dad left me his pride and joy 88 f150 302. so when my lease was up i gave my nascar truck back to ford. soon i will have to use this truck to pull my boat (3000 to 3500 lbs ). I don't want to ruin the motor, any suggestions on what I can do to help other than replace the motor. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

thanks fishin1976 and eckart. i already knew about the OD. my truck just seems to slugish going up a hill. this truck has been well taken care of. garage kept, consistent maintenance, only 80 k miles. any other suggestions. Thanks again i appreciate the input.

You can suck a little more jam out of the 302 with a K&N and a exahust. Gut your cats or better yet get a high perf one. I have a K&N ,no cats ,a better exaust, bumped my timing up and a cam. It isn't a big block but it does all right with the boat or camper. My truck sucked for power until I a guy at a local muffler shop took the second cat out and gutted the first one. It was plugged/melted. Says he sees it all the time. If yours is a dog start looking for why because setup properly they go alright.
