Bumpers? Anyone?

Be gone through just about every thread on here. Doesn't seem like anyone has made a good DIY bumper? Anyone?

Doesn't seem like any company's make them either, aside from those godawful warn bumpers I keep seeing.... Any bumpers fit these old trucks?

looks like I'm gunna pick me up some channel! Hahah perfect! I had considered it, but I wasn't too sure on how it would look! Too bad our mounting points are different! Yours would be the perfect cheat sheet!

mine is so overbuilt i have used it to push start mack trucks.
not only is it connected to the frame with the four bolts on the side, it is also connected with the straps the tow hooks are connected to on top, and the hitch receiver on bottom is bolted to the frame 14 inches in. if i remember correctly, it is connected to the frame and snow plow mount with over 18 different bolts at 10 different spots.
in reality though it is simply 3 pieces of channel. the front piece, and the two sides cut at a 22 degree (i think) angle to return the sides back towards the tires a bit, and 2 pieces of angle iron welded on to connect it to the sides of the frame rails.
you can see the angles a bit better in this pic:

THICK, and heavy too!!!
it was part of a pallet rack frame.
if i remember correctly it is 3/8 thick and weighs around 100 lbs.
takes 3 people to take off/put on. 2 to hold it up, and one to run at least 2 bolts in to hold it up.

8" standard channel is 11.5 lbs per foot, with a .220" web thickness. My steel book shows two sizes thicker. Then there is what they call ship/car channel, which would be 18.7 lbs per foot, with a .353" web thickness.

I'd like to build a bumper for my Ranger, the flimsy plastic front one is a joke and the rear one isn't great either, but with such a small truck I can't have something that weighs a ton. I work with autocad as my job, I might see if I can draw up something, order a sheet of diamond plate 1/8" steel from a local fab shop and see if they can cut it out on their CNC table so I can work on it at home. I used to do plate steel fab drawings all the time so it shouldn't be too difficult.
