Trim Level Help

I have noticed lots of EX's with different color dash and steering wheels. I have a 2005 LIMITED and it is all black trim. I don't like the black. How can I change it or where do I get the different colors. ex... woodgrain, tan, etc?

Mine is the best there is... tan. I'll swap you my tan straight up for your black but only because I'm a nice guy like that.

I swapped the carpet and two tone seats out of our wrecked 04 Eddie Bauer to our 05 limited.

Yes the stock dash panel was black but we kinda thought it looked cheap? So we swapped it too.

Door panels and wheel stayed black.

I like it alot.

That is kind of what I am looking to do with the dash, and maybe a couple more things.

I actually like the black in mine...but here's an idea to change it over...

Pull out your existing dash bezel and paint it a color you prefer. SEM Color Coat works very well. I've also read that ColorBond is as good. I know RiffRaff Diesel sells the latter and it comes in colors that match Ford's different interiors. In fact, you could use that on any of the hard plastic, vinyl pieces.

Want woodgrain? Hop on eBay and search fro Excursion wood grain kits. There are many different styles..some that mimic the factory looking grain and color.

When removing the dash, remember that it's all clips except for two screws above the radio. Just unplug all the switches and remove. All the A/C vents, etc unscrew. Even the Excursion emblem can be removed and replaced.

Almost forgot...the steering wheel. If the black steering wheel bothers you, perhaps a swap from a used one on eBay. Or...there are companies that can refinish your existing wheel with new leather, even retrofit wood, etc...

Thanks, I will check them out. I have seen a lot of different styles of dashes on X's and thought it was all aftermarket and mine looked kind of bland just being black. I was assuming most people were changing theirs too to get away from the black and pretty it up a little.

I, for one never cared for woodgrain on a vehicle. It's a Ford, not a Bentley... And if it's a Bentley, then it's legit wood and not a plastic overlay.

I'd love to have a plain interior. Bonus points for anything but Tan or Red.

Its what YOU want. Don't worry about what others think. I have an OBS Ford with real woodgrain and its warped and is peeling clearcoat... yes they clearcoated it. Id rather have the fake stuff honestly.

But on the other hand I love black interiors too lol
