Front Jump Seat

Has anyone fitted a front centre jump seat?

I've seen them for sale from time to time on flea-bay. It's claimed that they bolt directly into the centre console mounts.

If it is that simple I'm tempted to buy one.

All in all, my truck is still going strong - two trips to Perisher Valley this year - the turbo loves the mountain air!

Are you talking about replacing the existing centre console "bucket" with a middle seat to make it a 6 seater?

If so, yes it is just a bolt on replacement. All the XL models came as 6 seaters to Aus IIRC.
It may impact your registration if/when you sell the truck with 6 seats, if it is listed by the RTA as 5 seater (I know it does in Victoria, requires an engineering cert I believe, don't know about other states), but apart from that, very straight forward change.

Thanks Adrian. The Ozzy selling ones I've seen in the past were $650 plus $100 courier for me. I've managed to find a new take out from a 2014 truck in Texas. USD125 plus another USD125 freight. All in all, less than $400 delivered, so nearly half price to sourcing one at a local supplier.

You're right. After fitting the next thing will be the rego change, from a 5 seater to a 6 seater.

I'll have to make a few enquiries about that. After reading some pretty pointed posts on this forum I will definetely ensuring the numbers match for rego & seating.

I'll post some pics once it's in.

Jump seat install:

from above, jump seat frame. I made the front mounts from some RSJ riveted to the floor & bolted to the frame. Just clears the handbrake

From above, base cushion down

folded down, cup holders and storage area lid down

Jump seat deployed

Handbrake - tight fit but operational without hinderance

Integrated seatbelt - the orange colour means there'll never be a mix up during normal operations

Depress button to fold down

Top storage area. Sadly the top lid was cracked during shipping

There is 'secret storage' inside the frame - enough for a ski parker, binnoculars, first aid kit, & handy tea towel

Nice work Simon , how does that effect your rego and insurance?

Do you have to get the truck re-engineered?

Did you get the seat from Aus?

Hi, I purchased the seat & shipping on Ebay - from a Texan seller, take-out from a 2014 truck. It was boxed up and shipped using Ebay Global. The only issue was that I reckon it went bottom-load as something heavy was put on top of the box which ended up putting a crack in the storage compartment lid. This can only be seen with the lid raised so I'll live with it.
Looking at my rego papers there is no indication for the number of seats. But on the Fo Mo Co compliance plate it says 5 seats. I expect that I'll have to get an Engineer certificate to get an updated compliance plate & not use 6 seats until I do.

I managed to fit all the crap I had in my old cubby-box either under the jump seat base cushion, or in the top storage trays. Essentially I haven't got any further room for 'excess crap' - that's the crap you have on top of 'normal crap'.
