I don't think Ford has released the specs of the new engines yet. I'm sure it's nothing more than some programming tweaks to up the power and maybe make it a little more economical.
So what is new in the "Second Generation" 6.2L engine ?
I guessed I missed the part that the 2017 has a second generation 6.2. I did hear that there would be a increase in power. But did they say "second generation 6.2"?

I have a feeling it's just a different tune. How about, "second production configuration" lol. If It IS just a better 87 octane tune, I wonder if they'll flash our current 6.2s for free!? Like they did with the latest TD after they upgraded the tune that one year.
My take away from the intro information was the new transmission will be a lighter 6 speed. Its curious why not an 8 speed. My understanding is the current 6 speed is the same HD version the diesels have, and is overkill for the 6.2. The upside is it should be pretty hard for current 6.2 owners to break their trannys. The downside is they are carrying unnecessary weight. It looks like the Boss engines are getting a long run like the Windsor motors did. Ford seems pretty happy with the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" scheme for the new model. Important for work trucks, especially for fleet use. I wonder if the 5th wheel prep version will come with a lower bed height. Factory air bags would be great.
No. What I'm hearing is the new transmission is only offered on the F250 with a 6.2. But the 6.2 is not limited to the F250.
I believe the 6.2 is limited to the SDs though, so it would be the 250 and 350. Since the F450 only came with the 6.7 last time, and it probably will again.
6.2 is on F250 and F350 only and 6.8 V10 is a gas option on F450 and F550 just as before. I'm still a bit unclear about changes, but I'd guess it means a similar short block and tweeks to induction or something. Sorta how the 6.7 got an update last year.

That last engine also receives a new six-speed transmission in the F-250: the TorqShift-G. You might recognize the first part of that name; that “G” makes all the difference, though. The new tranny’s higher first-gear ratio enables better first-gear launches. Acceleration from rolling stops improves, too.
The TorqShift-G’s downshifts are faster than those in the regular TorqShift and engine-speed-matched (thanks, Mustang!). The quality of upshifts has been improved as well. Given that Ford says 90 percent of Super Duty buyers tow, I’m sure many of you will be happy to know that the TorqShift-G features “aggressive transmission gear-based grade braking availability in Tow/Haul mode” for maximum control of the truck whether its aluminum bed is loaded or its beefier hitch is pulling a giant trailer. On top of all that, the F-250’s brakes will live longer lives. Source: Facts About the TorqShift-G in the 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty - Ford-Trucks.com

Thanks for the link! Looks like the new trans is a better match for the 6.2. Now, what about the paddle shifters...
Ford can upsell the lighter tranny as much as they want to but I prefer to have the diesel rated drivetrain behind my gaspot. I believe that bodes well for the longevity.
Mines tuned so I can't really comment on a stock configuration but my tow/haul mode already offers extremely aggressive downshifts while stopping or going downhill.
Also a higher first gear ratio doesn't seem to me like it's going to help the 6.2 when loaded down heavy.

Absolutely nailed it here. I love how the current transmission. I'd argue they're doing it to increase gas mileage, but it doesn't hurt their fleet average in the super duty series so .... Why change something that works?
