And that is a very good possibility, Eric. I initially thought that's what it was, but after replacing a hose to the throttle body a lot of the leak cleared up near the thermostat housing. I thought I was out of the woods.. Maybe not.
If you need a timing chain, water pump, pump back plate or balancer, front crank seal, etc, now would be a great time to just do it. Clean everything, use good gaskets, I didn't break any bolts, but then mine was a clean, mostly dry area southern truck. Be careful if you go as deep as the timing cover & don't drop junk in the pan. You can look through one of my albums at what I just broke down and did after getting tired of smelling antifreeze cooking off from the front cover like it seems all SBFs of this gen do. I recently did all the front gaskets again + the pan just because I had the engine out.
