P207F and P04DB

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to reach out to you all to see if anyone has experienced this problem. I have a 2014 F250 CCSB that I bought new, I now have 41,000 mi on the truck. Earlier this year it had the P207F code come up and subsequently the computer derated the power to idle. I was able to get it to the dealership and they could not figure out why the truck had this code come up, it is an exhaust fluid CEL. They went through a sequence of steps to include holding the RPMs at 1800 and the 2500 for about 5-10 minutes until one of the EGT sensors hit a certain temp, then the code cleared from the computer. They gave me the truck back and told me it would likely happen again.

Over the summer I had this happen twice more, however these times, I cleared the code, ran the truck at 1800 rpm, and the code cleared, all would be ok for a while.

Then about 1.5 weeks ago the truck had both of the mentioned codes pop up the same day, first was the P04DB, I cleared it. Then the P207F came up, it would not clear. I dropped it off at the dealership. They were initially quite responsive, and again told me that they could not find a problem with the truck from a mechanical standpoint. However, they could not get the light to clear and the truck was stuck at idle. When they were able to get the light to clear it would come back on in 10 minutes, the idle message has never gone away.

Now it has been at the dealership for 1.5 weeks, I am having issues getting them to even give me an update on the status of the truck and what they plan to do to fix it. They did provide me with a loaner, for which I am grateful to not have to rent a car. However, these are expensive trucks, and I need it for my farm.

Sorry for the rambling. If anyone else has had a similar issue could you let me know what the resolution to the problem ended up being? I appreciate the advice in advance!

Sounds like they need to replace the NOX sensors. Sounds like you REALLY need to find another dealer. Good luck

Thanks! The warning light is finally cleared and supposed to pick it up today, they say it is not "fixed" and their techs along with Ford's engineers don't know what is wrong with it. They say mechanically it is fine, the NOX sensors check out ok. The tech told me the engineers have had a number of trucks with the same issue and they believe it is a computer problem, they are still working on a fix. Hopefully it will work for a while. Makes me wonder if a delete needs to be in my future.

Hi Flight_RN,

I'm Todd, and I'm filling in for Crystal while she is on vacation. I want to look into this further; please send over a PM with your full name, phone number, VIN, and the Ford Dealer you've been working with.

I'll keep my eyes peeled!

Todd

Sorry to hear about you issues. I feel your pain. My truck has been at the dealer for 20+ days with no answers insight. My issues are different, but it just goes to show how complex the new trucks have become. The EPA requirements have destroyed our diesel trucks.

Any updates on this?
I am getting a P207F. Dealer installed a new NOX sensor. Didn't help. I have been clearing it, but last night at work it came back but with no engine light ! I No engine light means no codes. Nothing to clear.
Please keep us updated. A delete is not really an option for me...

I'm sorry to hear you are having problems also, it is quite frustrating. I did get the truck back almost 3 weeks ago after it was at the dealer for 2 weeks. This was around the third time I have had to take the truck in to get the light cleared this year, other times it has happened I have been able to get the light to clear with a code reader before the truck started derating power. The dealership went through diagnostics and could not find a problem. They escalated things to the Ford techs and then to the Ford engineers. The difference with this time was they could not get the light to clear except for short amounts of time. I was told the NOX sensors were not the problem, and they could not find a mechanical problemh with the truck. Ford says it is a known issue with a number of these trucks throughout the country, however, as of yet there is no fix.

I have had the p207f code come up twice in the 3 weeks I have had the truck back, once I cleared it with no problem, then I had the light come on again the other night. This time I could not get it to clear. Since all of this has happened I bought a bluetooth OBDII reader and the DashCommand app for my iPhone. I looked at the EGT 11, 12, 13, & 14 sensor temps, they all appeared fine and about the same temps. I tried multiple time to get the light to clear without success. I ended up letting the truck sit overnight and get cold and when I started it yesterday morning I was able to get it to clear. Luckily I caught it before it started the derate process, that means a trip to the dealer. I also reached out to Crystal who monitors these boards and she is working with me.

Basically, it is still an issue, you never know when the light will come on, these emissions systems seem very problematic to say the least. I don't have a fix, the dealership has documented for me that there is a problem they can't fix. I'm also concerned about deleting since expense and warranty are both an issue.

I wish you luck, let me know if you find out anything I will also provide updates.

Thanks for the reply
I am wondering if it is a computer problem as well
Note*
1- This all started AFTER the 14E03 PCM Re-cal
2- up until yesterday I could always reset when engine cooled down.
3- funny thing I noticed- With code cleared/no engine light, DEF level reads "under 1/2 full", when I have the light and contamination countdown or idle only, it reads "fluid level ok" Why would that change ??

Question - Have you had the PCM re-cal done? Did these issues happen after that??

My problem now is I have no codes and no engine light !! And, I am locked into idle only !

Mine started before the software update, they tried that has a fix. It didn't work. They flashed the PCM again this last time with no luck. My DEF level reads "ok" after the light was cleared, I didn't check it when the light was on because I was concerned that looking in the "information" section would pull the p207f code to the information screen, you are up a creek when that happens.

For me to get idle only mode to clear I had to get it to the dealer (I have lucked out and have been able to drive there with the speed limited to 50 mph, it goes to idle shortly after I get there).

The dealer should have a diagnostic program they can run that has them hold the truck at certain RPM ranges and goes through various other tests. That is the only way they have been able to get mine to clear, this last time it took them most of the two weeks to get it out of idle, and from what I can tell the only thing they were able to do was repeat the test over and over until it reset. Also, the truck was stuck in idle with the idle message even after the check engine light cleared and no code was being read by the computer.

I am sorry to hear you are stuck at idle. That really sucks, and I don't think you will be able to reset it on your own. I hope you can get it to the dealer or that is already there. It sounds like you are having the same issues I'm having. Let us know what happens.

This is where I am. I couldn't believe I was reading the idle only message, without seeing an actual engine light..

Thanks.. I wonder if a delete is the only option at this point. I don't have any warranty left anyway. Mine a 2011 with 190,000 miles.
