Question

Number Tag on Engine

I have a 1956 F-250 and have pulled the engine out of the truck. It is a 272 Y-block. My questions is: there is a tag on the front of the engine to the left of the water pump. it is bolted to the engine, and it is about 3 inches across. It is a metal number tag with numbers being about 1.5 inches tall. The number is 35 is punched through the tag. Does anyone know what this tag is for?

Is it a round tag? It is probably the foundry tag. My 56 has one but it was made from paper like cardbord.

Yes the tag is round...is the Number 35 that is on the tag a person that cast it or a place where it was cast at?
