Another Wheel spacer thread!
I mounted them for Chits and giggles since everyone says they will not fit without spacers. I love the look, even with them set in a little with no spacers.
They actually fit and only rub at full lock turn up front. I was quite surprised. I have sagging stock springs up front. I did drive it for a short road trip, nothing exploded or blew-up. I know I need spacers to make it look its best but I could not justify the cost of Fred's even with free wheels.
I remembered seeing a vendor on an offroad site I frequent, Pirate4x4 that had hub centric spacers. I'm gonna give these guys a try - 2" varitey, I think a 1.75 would work fine if you trimmed off the non-threaded part of the stud. Looks like they beat on theirs pretty hard and they are taking the abuse. They have steel and Aluminium - american made with warranty. Aluminium - $440/set and Steel $540/set I asked for a Pirate4x4 discount and he knocked off $40 on the 2" Aluminium set.
I'm guessing after I install the spacers I will have clearance issues with the fenders once the wheels are pushed out.
In the end these free wheels will cost me , spacers, new 20" tires and likely new front springs.
Just wanna throw my 2 cents in. I to had sagging front springs, but the cost of replacing them seemed a bit much to me at the time. I fixed it by doing the 2 inch shackle lift. Leveled my truck out and kept me from bottoming out. Just an idea!
Other advice, I would go for the steel spacers. I know it's easy to advice that when it's not my money, but if I were doing this, I would go for the good stuff. Remember, you are riding on these things, and I have read some horror stories about using the aluminum ones.
