One more question for the folks here. I've got a new ignition system installed, a new distributor, and a new (rebuilt) carb installed. When I first fired it up it idled low, which isn't a problem as I'll need to tune the carb anyway, but after 30 seconds of running I shut it off and noticed fuel dripping from the block off plate on the EGR riser below the carb. There was also a touch of smoke coming off the exhaust manifold near the choke tube riser which isn't hooked up yet as I need to rebend the tube.
Why would there be gas collecting behind the EGR block off plate? Does that indicate an overly rich mixture? Could that be related to the fact I haven't tuned the carb or the timing yet?
First thing is to seal up the block off plate. Should I consider getting a different carb riser? Unburned fuel seems a fire hazard besides a waste of fuel economy.
