I have a 1999 Ford F-150 with 149,000 miles on it and when the engine gets warm it seems to flood its self out. I was told to change fuel filter, no change, I was told maybe the catalytic converters maybe plugged but then was told that wasn't the case either. Another mechanic mentioned some sort of ignition relay or computer issue? I do not have any lights on of any sort. I do want to mention before it started acting up the auto door locks would jump up and down erratically and my key phoebe will not work now. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
You may have 2 issues.
You have not given enough about the drivability issue.
Flooding out is not enough.
If there is no CEL light, then a Scanner is needed to look at the live data for a clue.
Otherwise it is just guessing like the advice you already got.
Tell us how it starts, idles, runs specifically.
Good luck.
Starts normally, idles fine, a little slow when cold, drives good for about 20 mins at 55 to 60 miles per hour, then it acts like it ran out of gas. I have a guy hooking up a scanner today hoping it will reveal some kind of code. Thank you for your response and if you have any idea they are more than welcome!
It never made it to the shop, a mechanic stop by the house last night (I worked a double and couldn't be there) and it wouldn't start in the driveway. I am hoping to have time tonight to try to get it to the shop myself.
Do NOT replace/buy parts until a physical test is done. You CANNOT diagnose a fuel injected vehicle by looking and guessing. That only wastes time and money 9 out of 10 times.
