02 v10 oiling issues

Hello all its been a while since I've been on went to a diesel for sometime but bought a 99 250 with a v10 for a plow truck anyway the motor was very tired in it and I decided to replace it when I came across what I though ( should have known better) a good deal on a complete engine out of an 02 with supposedly less then 10k on a rebuild. Well I got the motor in the truck and fired it up and its making a lot of valve train noise, rattling, ticking, and doesn't have very much power at all so I looked and looked and looked for information on it and found a few things about the oil pump so I pulled valve cover on passenger side sure enough no oil visable on cam or in head so I crank the truck over and its not getting any oil up top, so I pull drivers side valve cover off and there's puddles of oil in head under it and I crank the truck over again and can't get any oil on that side either?? The gauge stock gauge said it had pretty good oil pressure when I had it running but now I can't get it to pump any oil up top either side. I found a few videos on 4.6/5.4 and they show a restrictor plate on the head so I looked at mine took the bolts out and took of the counter balance thing on drivers side and there doesn't appear to be any restrictor in this like I saw in the videos. Has anyone ever dealt with this before ?? Is there a restrictor in it somewhere that could be plugged up??? Or do I have to pull the thing apart anf do an oil pump in it??? Looks like a real p.I.t.a job to do oil pump has anyone done one??? Thanks ahead of time for any help I'm really beating my head against the wall here and need my truck its been down for a couple months over this deal oh and of course guy I bought motor from won't answer his phone period. Drove almost 2 hours back to his house and couldn't find him, very ****ty deal all the way around so far, lots of money and time and more frustration than anyone should deal with.

Sorry to hear all this... I thought there were restrictors lower in the block, not in the heads, but I can't be sure on that.

How do the cam and balancer journals look? Scored?

You could try blowing compressed air into the oil feeds and see what happens, you might loosen anything that's stuck, but to be honest, that crud will only find somewhere else to stick if that's what it is.

The stock gauge is nothing more than an idiot light that shows pressure when there's even 5 pounds. Hook up a real gauge, crank it over and see what you get for oil pressure.

Thanks for the response krewat I just noticed you had responded. I went to the local auto parts store and bought a real oil pressure gauge and installed it yesterday. It is showing crazy high oil pressure, at idle it is around 75 lbs and when I idle it up around 3500 or so it goes up to almost 100, I'm not new to any of this beyond the overhead cams etc ive built a lot of small and big blocks and I know that's an absurd amount of pressure. I took the oil cooler off my 99 block and put it on the 02 block I put in because the guy I got it from broke it taking it out. Could they be different?? I highly doubt it but ford loves to change **** just to screw with is back yard mechanics lol, anybody else have any insite here please??? I need my truck back on the road badly.

Sounds like the pressure-relief in the pump is stuck. Which leads me down a road I really don't want to go down - a bunch of crud (metal?) got into the oiling system, clogged the galleys feeding the heads, and the pressure-relief valve stuck too...

You're going to be taking the timing cover off anyway, so... get to it
