I am new to the Ford Truck World, I have a Great American Sports Car and figured I had to own the Best American Truck so I bought a 1951 Ford F2. It has 51,000 miles on it, has no rot at all, stored inside for 40 years plus, solid Henry Ford Steel and great Patina.
I do not plan to repaint at this time only clean, clean, clean and clean up the interior.
The fellow I bought it from along with a friend have helped me to replace entire exhaust, all new braking system, rebuilt starter, rebuilt carburetor, new battery, replace 2 piece wheels and tires add some Beauty Rings and Hub Caps.
I will figure out my way around this Forum and do some posting and I am sure I will have questions.
sorry to get
WOW you guys are quick responders, I will get some pics out there soon, thanks for the interest, I am sure you forum members will have answers for my upcoming question
Welcome, when I got my F1 it changed my life, and has given me years of fun not only driving it but also working on it, learning about it and getting to know a lot of very nice people here on the site. Im sure you will have a similar experience with yours.
Welcome to the forum. Many of us here like the 3/4 ton pickups. I'm curious about the 2 piece wheels, those came from the factory on F-3 trucks. The F-2 had one piece 16 inch wheels. Looking forward to pictures.
Have you checked the code built into the serial number stamped into the frame? That number defines the year, model, engine and assembly location as well as the unique ID number. That # also needs to match the paperwork to obtain title and registration.
The 51 had 2 piece wheels on it, my friend replaced with 1 piece and radials prior to my purchase. I am building a garage so the truck is still at my friends. Once it is home I will post pictures. I have registered the truck VIN is ok, There are numbers stamped in the firewall just below the cowl vent, you can see them when you open the hood. I have not figured these out yet. I read some posts about these numbers with no conclusions.
