By reducing the engine idle all pressures have been reduced.

Keep in mind this transmission is kinda old. Bordering on 60 years.

Who knows if anything has been done.

Have you looked at the manual I provided?
That manual looks identical to my transmission shop manual which i looked at last night. It talked about the throttle position lever on the transmission and i am wondering with the use of a late model 2bbl intake with a autolite 2100 from the early 70s could have thrown the setting off and it was not adjusted but the engine was simply idled up.

From my understanding the throttle position arm on the transmission boosts pressure based off throttle position and it should boost pressure at 3* throttle. My current line of thinking is that with the idle speed set at 800 rpm in park the transmission had the lever position at or above 3* which allowed the transmission to go into dive right away. Now with the park idle speed reduced down to 650 rpm the lever is below 3* and there is no pressure boost happening which is why it just sits there and whines till you put it in low and shift it back to drive or you apply some throttle.

As far as work goes, I have maintence documents back to 1963 that shows the only transmission work ever done was regular fluid change. Same with the rear diff.

There's your answer. Would be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much easier if all information was supplied.

I made the adjustments today. The throttle length had to be shortened quite a bit to get it to work. I also had to adjust the throttle position rod down seven full turns before it was even level with the bellcrank. I then went three more turns down as per the shop manual. Transmission goes into gear perfectly. Not sure about how all gears work would have to test drive the car for that and I am not there yet.
