Need to purchase an oil catch can?

Digitalbath, I have installed catch can/oil separators on all 3 of the vehicles I have including my 2018 5.0. Call me anything you want but don't tell me not to do this. At 300 miles there is already oil in the recepticle. I sold a 2013 3.5 Eco F-150 because I drove it 40K miles without one. Not knowing the condition of the intake valves was good enough for me. I was able to use a Ford Performance Part on the 5.0 but there are none for the Ecos from the factory that I know.
If would have known about them I would have had one on my 13 from the first week. My 18 installs are on youtube along with many for the 3.5 Eco's. I would use a dual one for that engine and make sure it has all the necessary lines and hoses so you do not use any of the the original factory lines. They are close to $400 but for me cheap insurance. Every car since 1962 should have had one.
In my state you would fail a visual on the emissions inspection and need to place the originals back before the test. my 2018 is already in the tray under the back seat. I'm not going to remove the separator, I'm just going to disconnect the lines and put the originals back on for the testing. But I have the first 5 yrs as grace so I'm not much worried. I also have photos on this site.

bgdude, that's great but how many miles and if you've had a camera in the intake port to see the valves, I'd love to see it.
Hey there are hundreds of thousands of Eco's out there with DI and none of us know what the valves look like. A vehicle that gets 30-40k miles a year is going to look way different than one with 3-4K miles of total city driving that may never properly warm up. I'll go with the oil trap. We once had a 85 Pontiac Grand Am with 117k miles in 15 years of all city driving. I took off the butterfly plate once to clean it and could not believe what the tuned port intake looked like.
Some folks change vehicles every 4-5 yrs and may never every see a problem. We are all different.
