Straight axle conversion
I'm in the process of changing the TTB 4x4 front axle of my '83 F-250HD to a straight axle. Has anyone done this? I wanted to use the existing springs and steering arms. Do I have to change to the F350 parts? Is there any difference in the spring rates between the F250 and F350 springs? Thanks for any info.

It should be a straight swap....you can go F-350 equipment but it is not necessary! As you prolly already know the F-350 springs will be a lil beefier and stiffer.

just find an 85 or later f-350 srw axle....i think they were kingpin till 93, so those r the good ones......they will bolt right to your exhisting leafs springs, all you have to do is either fab up a TRACBAR MOUNT or steal one off a donor trucc, same goes for steering, but im not sure about driveshaft length

you can also use an axle from 79 or earlier (just make sure you find one with disc brakes) except this you would have to move the spring perches on each side because the 80 up frames are about 3 inches wider (or 3 inches narrower I don't remember which)
