My rear end went haywire last week swaped in a new rear end I went from 247 gears to 308's now my sppedometer says Iam going 85 when i think iam going about 55. is this because of gears or what anyone know
Nope no speed sensor just the cable to speedo. the truck is a 85 f150 strait six toploader 4 speed. I think it's jumping about 20 miles per hour. While going down the highway it said I was going 85 and a little old lady passed me when she did i saw 65 miles per hour
now i am just following the flow of traffic, is there anyway to adjust the speedo?or should i just watch the tach ? The speedo worked fine until the switch.
Easiest is a Ford dealer. I don't know if parts houses have them. When I was working in a dealership our rule of thumb was 1 tooth = 5mph thats pretty close. Take yours out count the teeth and note which way the teeth angle. There are right and left hand teeth.
