Battery Drain

I have a 92 XL 3.0 RWD Aerostar. A few days ago, it wouldn't start. My battery was 6 or 7 years old, so I replaced it. It started right up, but there is a constant 9 - 10 volt drain on the battery. All the fuses were pulled and made no difference. I narrowed the drain to the 2 yellow wires with fusable links that are attached to the solenoid. Can someone tell me what these wires feed to?

Battery Drain

I never use voltage as a measurement of a draw. I use amperage. Many newer vehicles do have a small draw from memory sources all the time. If amperage exceeds around .2 to .6 amps substantially then I would check the alternator first. Unplug the regulator pigtail connector at the alternator and see if the draw drops dramatically or completely. If so replace it. And make sure no domelamp is staying on, or hood lamp. What I do for a simple quick test is pull the negative cable, and bridge the cable and battery at the negative post and with a test lamp, touch the neg cable to the battery post to discharge any reserve and see how bright the test lamp glows. If it stays bright you have a draw, if it dims way down to a trickle you may just have memory circuits active. Disable your alarm when doing draw test if it is an aftermarket alarm.
