I can't be the only one that has stains on the cloth seats in my wife's 08 Escape. Most of these stains are actually water. And one mystery stain nobody knows where it came from.
Has anybody here had any luck cleaning this cloth upholstery
I have used the 'Resolve' carpet cleaner and a small scrub-type brush on the cloth in an 07 Mariner. It shows water stains also. The cleaner removed them, but of course they came back anew. I was going to try the 3M product that will coat cloth seats and repel water and 'stuff', but have not gotten to it yet. I think Wally sells the Resolve. Mostly red aerosol can.
Spray to cover the whole area, let soak a few seconds and then scrub into the fabric. Allow to dry, then use a vacuum if there is anything to pick up. It may not get them 'clean as new', but it will make the color more even. You can try it a second time on spots that are recalcitrant.

My '02 has the same water "damage" and I've tried everything except steam cleaning. Anyone tried that route?
Local business wants $50 to steam clean the seats... might have to give it a go.....
One other solution that might work is the rental carpet cleaning machines, or a home carpet cleaning machine. Some have a 'stair' attachment that would work on the seats. I think the cleaning solution & hot water would give a more even appearance to the color.

That service when you buy a car that guarantees no stains and that they come out is starting to seem like a good deal for a fabric Escape. Of course you can't get it afterwards. (It's called Auto Butler or something like that).
I clean my seats with a mix 1 gallon of hot water and a cup of lemon-scented ammonia.
Have used it in the Rangers and wifes Camry with good success. Scrub it with a brush and use a shop vac to pull out the excess moisture
