How big can i go?

First off i have a 2001 F-150 standard cab. i wanted to know if i can fit 12's behind my seats? i have heard that i can, but they have to be shallow. has anyone put 2 - 12's behind passenger and driver seats? if so how far forward were the seats from all the way back. i need to know b/c i am 6' 3" and i need to have seat as far back as possible. just to let u know i am looking at a nice set of RF HX'2. any inof would be greatly appreciated thanks

Go with 3 10's, much better fit, they will fit for sure, they pound way harder and come very close to the low end of 2 12's. You can here the 3 10's all the time where with 2 12's at low volume, they aren't very loud. The problem with the 12's is in a wedge box the top of the box is to wide. You can get your seat to go all the way back but when the backrest part of the seat goes back it hits and you sit straight up, you have to move the seat forward so the backrest of the seat will recline you back. If you drop down to a set of 12's that are smaller than normal they will not work as well as a really good pair of 10's. I just switched to the 3 10's last year after having 2 12's for many years. My seat now goes all the way back and I am so happy with them. They hit twice as hard as the 12's and come really close to the low end bass reproduction. The seat and the small cab really kill low bass in a pickup. You have 3-4 more feet of cab space for the bass waves to travel in a car so you feel the bass way more. Hope that helps.

Or you could just go with a shallow mount driver. I just posted this to another question
Illusion Audio ND series subs, Blaupunkt, and Phase Linear all make very shallow mount subwoofers that sound great(like 3" mounting depth!!)
