Parts Cross Reference or Interchangeability Catalog
Sorry if this is the wrong Forum for this question!
Anyone know of a Ford book/catalog or CD that identifies parts interchangeability from the engineering numbers, the actual part numbers and the vehicles (yrs, makes and models) that the part may fit?

1) O-S-I (Obsolete-Supercede-Interchange) Catalogs cross old Ford part numbers to new Ford part numbers.
The problem is, none are reproduced on C/D's and there are dozens of different bound paper editions!
Ford combined dozens of these bound paper O-S-I catalogs, put them on microfiche. The 1991 microfiche O-S-I catalog has parts listed from the 1940's thru 1990.
I have this catalog, also a microfiche viewer.
2) Ford Master Cross Reference Catalogs cross ID Engineering numbers to Ford part numbers. Again, there are dozens of bound paper editions, none are reproduced on C/D's.
I have dozens of these bound paper catalogs from 1960 thru 2001.

Ford came out with at least two editions per year, the same info isn't in either, so you would need dozens of O-S-I bound catalogs that cover from 1967 thru...at minimum 1990.
IMO, the only way to be absolutely sure you have all the 1967/79 info is to get a 1990 or 1991 O-S-I catalog on microfiche (2 slides per year), then you'll need an ULTRA VII viewer.
In the late 1980's, FoMoCo changed the package quantity of a gazillion parts. When the IDIOTS did this, they changed the part numbers suffix, rendering all the original part numbers obsolete.
And, FoMoCo is in-famous for replacing/updating 10's of 1000's of part numbers EVERY YEAR!
Where in CA are you?

Are you trying to find out what will fit where on your rig or gather info to EBAY a bunch of stuff?

"C"= 60's decade.
6= the year in the decade. 1966.
"F" = Ford used for the Pinto.
There were no Pintos in 1966. I have seen the 3rd digit of "F" in some Industrial applications. Ford Power Products division. Not Ford Parts and Service division.

starter
Thanks for the quick reply. The starter was used in 1976 on AMC's JEEP CJ-5, 258ci 6cyl 3spd base model. AMC's part # is 321 2235 and I also have FORD # D0FF-11001-B and D6FF-11001-AA and -BA coming up on my Internet searches. My AMC Parts Book states it is a MOTOCRAFT starter 321 2235.
Again, I'm grateful for any info you can provide. Jim

Request for NumberDummy - I'd like to replace my original 1976 starter motor, FORD ID engineering # C6FF-11001-B and wondering if you could kindly provide today's equivalent/modern FORD/Motorcraft part number?
C6 would be 1966, but there's no FoMoCo truck or car ID number prefix of C6FF

1966 FoMoCo starter ID number prefix could be: C6AF; C6OF; C6TA or C6VF
You should list the vehicles you own in your signature, as your "About Me" profile says 2017 F150.
Notice my signature says 2017 Fusion (as of 7-5-17).

I think the third prefix character F is for OUTSIDE SALES, which would make sense as he is mentioning AMC.
The 4th character F is ELECTRONICS DIV which then may have been ELECTRICAL. E is for ENGINE, not electrical.
These are Engineering Nos. and of course I don't have to tell you that.
This is not confirmed and I have been wrong in the past. I think that's how I winded up married...
